25/08/09 - Cllr Assenheim calls Shoebury Independent Party Candidate a 'loose cannon'

A document has been forwarded to Shoebury Conservatives where Shoeburyness Ward councillor Mike Assenheim describes 2010 Shoeburyness Ward Independent Party candidate Anne Chalk as being disasterous in the past and a 'loose cannon'.

This follows previous gaffes by the former Labour Party member Anne Chalk when recently she called for travellers pitches to be made available in GunnersPark perminantly and called for the council to put skips on GunnersPark so the travellers could put their rubbish in!

In the damming document, Cllr Assenheim also calls Anne Chalk a single issue candidate with a narrow focus on EastBeach and the parking situation and not the rest of Shoeburyness. It then goes on to explain that Cllr Assenheim needs to take her 'under the Independent Party wing' to 'improve her focus'.

Commenting on the revelations Shoeburyness Ward councillor Roger Hadley, who will be taking on Anne Chalk in Shoeburyness at the 2010 local elections commented:

"I know there has been some infighting with the Independent Party in Shoeburyness recently but it seems it has turned to open warfare.

"Only this month a newsletter from Mike Assenheim was delivered to Shoeburyness ward residents introducing her to the ward.

"We have had Cllr Assenheim's four different views on EastBeach, Anne Chalk calling for traveller's pitches and skips on GunnersPark, the http://www.southend-on-sea-labour.org.uk/ website linking to the Independnet Party website and now this.

"The Independent Party are trying to turn Shoeburyness ward into a circus! I don't think we have heard the last in this soap opera".
