
West Shoebury Ward councillor Tony Cox has today welcomed the Government's decision to open an enquiry in the treatment of rape victims.
The review which will be undertaken by Baroness Stern is expected to look at why conviction rates for rape are so low.
On hearing the news Cllr Tony Cox commented:
"I am delighted that the Government have decided to look into this very important matter.
"It appears that the Government were split as to the need to hold an enquiry now but I urge all cabinet members to unite around this report.
