Shoeburyness High School and the Renown Centre for Learning are two of six Southend schools in a bid for £80 million of Goverment cash .
As part of the building schools for the future, Shoebury High School is seeking a complete re-build allowing it to provide more community services.
The Renown Centre fo Learning in Constable Way plans to refurbish the pupil referral unit.
Shoeburyness ward councillor Roger Hadley who is responsible for Education said:
"This is a golden opportunity for these two Shoebury schools to get the money it needs to bring these schools up to standard our young children deserve.
"If we don't grab this chance to bid for the money then it could be years before another opportunity arises".
