Dog Contol Orders - What They Mean To Shoebury

On the 16th June Southend Council amended the dog control regulations for the town. Following an amendment by Shoeburyness ward councillor Roger Hadley, there are no restrictions on dogs at East Beach, Shoebury Common and Thorpe Esplanade car parks.

Below is a list of what the new regulations mean:

East Beach (No Change)

  1. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 1st May to 30th September
  2. Dogs must be kept on a lead on the grassed area between the road and the beach
  3. Dogs can run free in the car park. The same will apply when the area becomes aparkland area.

Shoebury Common (No Change)

  1. Dogs are not allowed on the beach between 1st May and 30th September
  2. Dogs must be kept on a lead whilst on the promenade
  3. Dogs can run free in the car park area

Shoebury Park

  1. Dogs will not be allowed in the children's play area
  2. Dogs will be able to run free in the rest of the park

Friars Park/Gunners Park

  1. Dogs will not be allowed in the children's play area
  2. Dogs will be able to run free in the rest of the park

*Please note that it will be an offence to exercise or be in control of more than four dogs in any public place and not put a dog on a lead when instructed to do so by a dog warden.
